Tornado?

I have had only a few hours of sleep and decide to go ahead and get up to start working on my community assessment project that is due tomorrow! I go feed the cats and then all of a sudden I hear the sirens go off in town. I turned on the T.V. to see what is going on and found out that my county is under a tornado warning. It seems to be more north of the county than I live. What a way to wake up! My whole week has been a whirlwind so far! I bet they have all the patients in the hallway at work and it would be report time too! I am glad I am missing out on that!

Sunday night into Monday morning I was unable to sleep. That didn't surprise me since I slept through my alarm on Sunday and slept most of the day. Right before trying to lay down Monday morning, I was looking at my community assessment guidelines and realized that I didn't have some information from my sites!!!!! I was freaking out a little and emailed my instructor and I also tried to call her office after 8 am to see if I could talk to her. I even called a couple of my other community sites that morning to get the additional information. This Center of Addictions place wasn't very nice when I called. I wasn't able to get info from them and even tried again today and could never an answer at the main number or the number of the person I originally interviewed. When I got off work and out of a meeting for clinical this morning, I went and visited my sites and did my windshield survey. I came home and made a few phones calls to get more information. By this time it was almost 2pm in the afternoon and I had been up since yesterday so I finally took a nap.

I accidently slept through my alarm on Monday and missed my clinical experience but I was glad that it was an opportunity that is an on-going so I was able to reschedule. I am supposed to go back next Monday now!

I went to a community coalition this morning for violence free families. It was interesting seeing all the different communities working together. I didn't realize all the different coummunity organizations and the way they work together. So many commities that go on! I might have to go to some other opportunities like this if I am able. I also got to talk to a couple of classmates that was there too. They had a ton of information in the center about substance abuse I am going to include in my binder.

The sirens have now turned off in town and the warning is over for my county. I think I should be able to concentrate on my community assessment! I am going to be soo glad when I am done! :-)

Trying to be productive

I got home from the Mudhouse and decided to have taco salad with turkey meat. Since I ended up sleeping most of the day, I was hungry! While I was cooking, I was also cleaning my laundry room. I had things sitting in the floor to recycle and it was hard to get around. That room isn't that big so one item can cause traffic problems!

I worked on getting the laundry done to get the hamper out of the way. I worked on getting the recycling to the garage for loading at a later time. Then I worked on mopping the floor. I have the litter box in this room and as many interventions I have taken to prevent the litter from being scattered has failed. I am pretty proud of my accomplishment of the laundry room! By the time this got done, my turkey meat was ready for seasoning and the cutting of the veges. Yum!

I was able to work the rest of the night on my Coummunity Health. I was hoping to be done way before know to work on writing up my community assessment. No such luck. I am still waiting for my bed sheets and comforter to be dry so I am going to use this time to work on writing up my assessment. I won't be getting much sleep today before going to my clnical experience for the day and then going to work. I will deserve me some frozen coffee today! I also might be getting my energy drinks delievered today. I will have to run by my house after getting done with clinical!

Sleep is optional

I realized today that this week is going to be insane. The most insane one I have had in a while! My plan for today was to wake up early - I set my alarm for 0900 and get all this stuff done for school. I somehow slept through my alarm and woke up around 1400 when my sister called me! I told her for some reason I was asleep but that wasn't my plan. She was telling me how beautiful it was outside today and that I should spend some time outside. That sounded like a good idea but I had to much to do for school.

I got up, checked my email and had a hot pepper cheese sandwich (not good for the heartburn but my fav!). I still felt quite tired so I laid down for a little bit. Then my phone rang around 1700 and it was my Mom wondering how I was doing. After I got done talking to my Mom, I finally got up for good! I took my shower and finally got out of the house to my current location, The Mudhouse. The Mudhouse has a website now. You should check it out!

I am concerned about this week I have as I am going to not get enough sleep. Since I messed up and slept for like 14 hours today, I might not be able to sleep tonight. AARRGGHH!!!!! I am sure I needed it though. I have been getting from 3-6 hours of sleep when I do get to sleep. Sometimes I am up for 24 hours or more before getting to go back to sleep. It is crazy. I have figured up that after Oct. 25, I might have all my hours in for clinical. This busy schedule will pay off. On November 8th, this class will be over! I so can't wait!!!

My schedule for this week:

Monday - I need to call the last two community sites and get the info. I also need to finish up my windsheild survey for the morning and evening times. I have to "observe" an vaccination clinic for 3 hours in the afternoon and then have a 1 1/2 hours before having to go to work. I work 7p-7a. My also will have an online exam posted for community health today. My discussion board and journal entries are due by noon.

Tuesday - My plan is to sleep. I am sure I will need it. If needed, work on my the final touches of my community assessment. I have to work and be the charge nurse from 7p-7a.

Wednesday - After I get off from work this morning, I have a one hour meeting about violence free families. I have been thinking about meeting with my instructor about my community assessment to see if everything is in order. It also might be to late to do that as I won't have time to do much more research. Get some sleep! I also will need to make sure my community assessment is all in order and to review for my quiz in Old Testament.

Thursday - I have class from 12-20. This is the day my community assessment is due. I will be so happy when that is done! I also should get my mid-term final back to see how I did.

Friday - I need to take two of my cats, Pandora and Felix, to see the vet for booster shots for a new vaccine they received. Then I take them back home and go to work from 19-07.

Saturday - After I get off from work this morning, I need to rush to the other side of town and work at a child care provider event for more clinical hours. Then go home and crash!!!

Sunday - get ready for the home school fair and make my poster about illness prevention and handwashing. I was hoping to just show up at the fair but I think it is going to be fun making this poster. Plus the time it takes me to make the poster will be clnical time. :-) I might have to have my sister and nieces over for grilling or just to have dinner for some fun time. I am not sure what she has going on either.

Update on my cyst is that it is still there! I can tell that he did make it is a little smaller at the base but the top part is still there and it seems harder for some reason. It is super tender after him doing the procedure on my finger. I was thinking it might be swelling but I don't think it is. I am going to wait till the end of the week and see how it is just in case before calling the office back. He was so optimistic that he had gotten the cyst and I wouldn't have to come back. I wish that was true as I wasn't fond of having my finger numbed and poked at! He will probably do that again unless he decides that I need surgery to get this cyst taken care of.

I need to get the Napser tunes going and get started on this homework!

Crazy week . . .

I have had quite the week! I finally got my Old Testament paper written and turned in. I also had a mid-term in this class and didn't get all the way through the 36 subjects we told us to read about. I started reading through the quizzes that we had gotten back and wish I had just done that to begin with! I am not sure how well I did on the mid-term as some of it was really easy (the parts I did study!) and some of it wasn't (the parts I didn't get to study). Sooo, I guess I will find out on Thursday.

Thursday was a busy day for me as I had a meeting to go to for clinical that morning and I crammed for my mid-term till it was time for class. The center that the meeting was at was one of my community sites. I tried to talk to someone while I was there but no such luck. They told me to call later. The girl at the desk after I explained why I was wanting to see someone was kinda rude as she snapped, "What kind of questions are you going to ask?". When I called back later and got to talk to someone I started asking my questions and she snapped, "How many questions are you going to ask me?". GGGRRRRRR!!!! She let me finish. I wasn't impressed with that place. The grounds aren't kept up and the place seems disorganized.

Friday was the day that I was to finish visiting all my sites. I only had 4 more to go . . . . . which I only got 2 done. I didn't realize that 2 of my sites closed early on Friday. I got to one place and they were locking the door but she gave me the name of the person I would need to contact on Monday. One place, the doors were locked but had a sign to go to the south door. I called them from my cellphone and they closed at noon but she told me who I could talk to on Monday. I was happy to get what I did. At least I can get started on what I have and then add to it later. I am soo ready for this assignment to be over!!! Then I have to write an intervention paper and a presentation about what I learned while doing my community assessment.
Saturday, my plans were to go to the loft walk downtown but my allergies were crazy! I thought I would lay down for a bit and then go downtown. I never made it back up till it was time for the international festival I was working at for school! BUMMER! I missed this last year because I was working so this year I made sure I was off and then I sleep through it. The international festival was fun. There was three of us at our table taking blood pressures and handing out info about blood pressure. We had to provide info in spanish and english. I was in charge of making a sign about free blood pressure readings. I went to freetranslation.com and had it translated into spanish. I found out that it told me something wrong! One lady kept looking at the sign and she told me that it really said, "Liberty readings of tension". We had to laugh! She hid my spanish sign since it was confusing!

In two weeks, I will be on vacation! I should be able to complete the last few assignments without any problem. I am looking forward to having a day that I don't have to work on school or go to work. It is soo long overdue. I am looking forward to scrapbooking at a crop that my sister and I are going to while I am on vacation. I still have kits put together from the last time we went to this same crop in April of this year. I am behind on my kits for the remember me club from a LSS. I hope to be able to get caught up! The year is almost up!

Numbness

This morning was my appointment with the hand specialist. He told me that how he treats ganglion cyst is by numbing my finger and then injecting air into the cyst to make it pop. He told me that if the cyst came back then he would attempt it again. If it comes back a third time, he would do surgery. I was a little nervous about him doing this procedure on my finger!

He injected 1.5cc of numbing medicine and it took affect quickly. I was able to watch him poke that needle in my finger and not feel it so it was working! By putting that much fluid in my pinkie finger, it was all puffy! I wasn't sure how he thought that he had popped the cyst. He went into two different spots and told me he felt like he got it. I am sure he is used to palpating these things. My whole finger was numb and felt 10 times bigger! Such a weird feeling. I had plans on coming home this morning and typing my finger but realize how hard it is to type with one finger being numb. Of course, it is the finger the rest on the "A" key which is used a lot! :-) I finally went to bed.

My Mom had called me shortly after I had went to bed to ask about how my appointment went. My finger was starting to feel more awake at that time and it seemed to me that the cyst had shrunk but I can still feel this hard nodule near my joint that I have had with this. I go back to sleep and when I wake up later in the evening, my finger is sore and is slightly bruised. Then the cyst seems to be there and more swollen! I am hoping that this is just fluid that needs to be absorbed but I am not sure. I guess I will give it a few days to see what happens. He told me if it came back to see him in one month and he would do this procedure again.

This numbing of my finger interferred with my plans this morning. I was hoping to come home and try to finish that paper that is due in the morning but I just couldn't type sooo I am getting ready to do that know. While I was waiting for the doctor today, I was trying to read my 37 subjects for my mid-term in the same class tomorrow. I realized how difficult it is going to be to get all these subjects read. I really want to do good on this test but I have a feeling I am going to run out of study time. I have a meeting to go to in the morning related to my community assessment which will cut down my study time. I am just ready for all these big assignments to be done so I might have some relaxation time!

I had better get busy so I might get a few hours of sleep tonight!

Light the Night

I worked this evening at the Light the Night leukemia/lymphoma walk. Their was four of us from my Community Health class and we took blood pressures for anyone who wanted them. Not to many got their blood pressure so we also helped at a booth next to ours with handing out glow sticks which got quite tangled! Then we did the walk when it started. It was a fun evening!

I ended up going to bed this morning around 0630. After dealing with tech support, I thought I would work on my online exam but my allergies was going haywire! I couldn't stop sneezing and had a runny nose. I did about 5 questions. Since I slept all day my main goal tonight is to get the online exam done and get sketch an outline for my research paper. Tomorrow, I need to be focused!

After getting to talk to some of my classmates regarding their community assessment, I feel better. They haven't really gotten started either! I have to work hard this week visiting my sites! I could get started with writing up some of the segments that I have researched on the internet. Since my classes are online and we meet about once a month, I don't really get to know my classmates. It was fun today to get to talk with some classmates! I am sure with some of the other sites I am doing I will get to meet more classmates. One positive thing about these clinicals!

I might try to watch a movie while answering my questions for my online exam. It will take me longer but it makes it fun!

Who needs a digital signal?

Here it is 3am and I was going to watch Grey's Anatomy only to find out my TV tuner isn't working right. I found the file on my computer to play it and then I don't have a picture but I can here sound! It worked a few days ago.

I call tech support and since I have had my computer less than one year, that means tech support in India! When you have a problem with something the last thing I want is to have some guy I can't understand. He kept telling me it was my video card but it had all the current drivers. Then he said to go to some hardware thing and find my TV tuner to test it. He didn't even know what it was under!!!!! He works in tech support? He told me to look under communications and audio but no TV tuner is listed. He puts me on hold. While I am on hold, I decide to look under video - ahhhh I found the TV tuner and start the test. He gets back on the phone and tells me that I need to do a system restore to get my TV tuner to work again. I told him that I found it and it and I was running the test. Everything passed but the digital TV signal. He tells me that I need to do a system restore to get that to work again. WHAT?!?!?!??! I explained to him I didn't think that was true as the digital signal has to do with my cable company and they have to fix it. I guess if they don't know what is going on the answer is system restore. I am glad that I know some computer stuff as he didn't! He had to put me on hold if I asked a question! CRAZY!!!!

A few days ago, a cable guy came out to my house and messed with my cables outside my house and reprogrammed my box. My cable company upgraded the DVR service and ever since then certain things hadn't been working correctly. I went and checked my other TV in my extra bedroom that is hooked up without a box and same problem with it, no signal!!! I can still get a picture on my TV in the living room. I am glad that I did record Grey's Anatomy on my TV downstairs! Since I record ER also, it always cuts the end of Grey's off and I miss something. I thought that recording Grey's with my TV tuner, I would catch it all!

I have spent the last 2 1/2 hours working on this problem. Now I have to wait for the cable company to fix whatever is causing the problem. I need some sleep! :-)

Busy weekend

I have sooo much to do and not enough time!!! I was quite tired when I got off from work this morning and had to go home to get some sleep! I finally got myself out of bed and left the house around 9pm just to get out. I went to Borders and enjoyed a frozen coffee drink while looking at scrapbooking magazines! I also found something cute to give my nieces for Halloween! A nice little 'getaway' from school. Sometimes you just need to have some relaxation.

I kept wondering on Thursday how I was going to get through work that night as I couldn't sleep all night and maybe got about 3 hours of sleep! In class that morning, our teacher talked about needing a nap. I was all for! :-) During class, I kept looking at my syllabus for Community Health in regards to my assessment that is due in less than two weeks. I finally had some things click that will help me. After class, I saw that my Community Health instructor was in her office and had a talk with her in regards to my assessment. She told me I was on the right track. YES!!! I felt better!

Then after running some other errands, came home for a short while before heading to work. I had a cute email from one of my nieces! I had to print it out and bring it to work with me. I get to work and have a note in my mailbox that I had written to my nurse manager with a response to the days I needed off for school. One day I am only working the first 4 hours from 19-23 and getting off the last 8 hours of my shift. That will allow me to get some sleep and work on my community assessment the next day. :-) AND I had troubles getting the other day off because I am in charge and everyone that is trained to charge is busy too. The one nurse that works nights that used to charge when she was FT didn't want to be charge. They are starting to train another nurse on nights to be charge and she will be charge that night and then our prn night nurse will work it! It is all changed on the schedule so I am relived! I was in a much better mood after learning this when I got to work and made working on little sleep a little easier. It also helped that most of my patients were pleasant.

Now to the busy weekend part. I have a 50 question test to complete for Community Health by Monday. I also am working at one of the local fundraising walks on Saturday for clinical hours. I need to get my research paper written for Old Testament. I have all my resources, just need to read through them and start the paper. I also have a mid-term in Old Testament that we have heard that everyone fails. I wish that he didn't make a mid-term final and then a research paper due the same day! Rough! I am hoping to type up a ref. to all the subjects he gave us for a study guide. I have a feeling I will run out of time before getting that typed up. I work Mon. and Tuesday night. I need to be focused and I am sure that I will get it done! In two more weeks, I should be able to relax a little. :-)

I am off to watch Grey's Anatomy and work on those 50 questions!

Less than two weeks . . . .

till my community assessment is due!!! Have I been able to visit any of my community places? NO!!! Actually yesterday now, I had planned to wake up early and visit some of my community sites that I have chosen. I had set my alarm for 0900 but somehow slept through it! I woke up around noon when the phone rang. I was in disbelief when I saw what time it was! :-/ I thought at least I had the afternoon but I was super tired! I had put an energy drink in the freezer and went and laid down setting my alarm to wake me up in 30 mintues. I ended up waking up 4 hours later which it was after 1700 and had a frozen energy drink by this time!!!!! I am not sure at this moment how I am going to get this community assessment done.

Tuesday morning after I got off from work, I meet up with some of my classmates and went on a tour of the Federal Medical prison. I had been there before but it had been 10 years. It was an interesting tour but we got started late with waiting for people to show up and then the person giving us the tour was late too. The mental health unit looks like prison cells you would see in a movie. Then after the tour, I went home to get some sleep. I had a dream that the inmates had made a secret passageway to this little strip mall and held me and another nurse I work with hostage. I think that comes from a story that I was told by a doctor that worked at the prison. He told me that a couple of the prisoners had escaped and went to a bar not to far from the prison. I guess they didn't have any money and didn't know what to do so they called the prison to come pick them up. I have no idea how they could have escaped with all the security and curled up barbwire that goes all over the fence!

I am looking forward to my appointment next week with the hand specialist. This cyst has gotten bigger and hurts. I am ready to have something done! My finger looks pregnant! I have been told it is unusual to have a cyst where I have mine.

I really need to be sleeping as I have class and have to work tomorrow. I am going to be a sleepy head at work. I noticed one of the days that I needed off that we had 5 nurses all night. I asked if I could just work 19-23 and be off 23-07 and it was approved. I still can't get anyone to work for me on the 25th and the one person that could be charge didn't want to be in charge and said no. I am going to have a rough day that day!

I am going to finish my Old Testament quiz for tomorrow and hopefully get some sleep!

Unproductive day

I was in such a productive mood last night and did get things done for school that will benefit me time wise. I was really hoping to get up early and do my windshield survey. I didn't get to bed until 2am and finally got out of bed this morning at 11am! I was trying to have a leisure morning and then all of a sudden noticed the time and needed to get ready to take Pandora and Felix to the vet!

I had to be sneaky to get them into their cat carriers. I set them up in the garage and then went inside the house. Felix was outside the garage door and knew something was up!!! I was able to get ahold of him and get him in the carrier without to much difficulty. I finally found Pandora napping under the futon and got her all loaded up. Off we went! Pandora meowed the whole time!!! It is about a 20 minute drive of meowing!

Pandora does good, she does try to get away some but she is fairly calm about the situation. I guess except the meowing in the car! Felix starts growling in his car carrier when he realized where we were. Last year Felix hissed, smacked and growled. He was ready for a fight!!! They even got out these huge heavy duty gloves to hold him since he was misbehaving! This year, he just growled the whole time. He did much better! I do have to bring them back in three weeks for boosters to a new vaccine they received. I included a picture in this post of Felix after he had his rectal temp taken and we were waiting for the vet. It is a little blurry as he wouldn't stay still.

I got Pandora and Felix back home and it took a little longer than I had thought at the vets office. It was too late for me to go visit my community assessment sites. So, I just need to work on my interview questions and be ready to maybe visit one everyday after work next week. I will actually have all day Wednesday off to get more done if needed. I am looking forward to one clinical opportunity that I have next week which is touring the Federal Medical prision in the area. I have actually been there before when I was in LPN school but that was about 11 years ago! Our tour is to be for 2 hours! Yay! I want to see as much as I can!!!

I think my finger with the cyst is hurting from typing! I have noticed that the cyst has gotten bigger and my pinkie now looks pregnant compared to my other pinkie! I am soo ready to get something done about this. I should know what the game plan is in a couple of weeks. I remember when this bump first showed up in late August and I showed this one girl at work as I was concerned about it. She told me it was nothing and it would go away. I haven't seen her since that day and now to think this nothing might require surgery! YIKES!!!! I was really hoping she was right!!!

Feeling productive!

I have been trying to take advantage of it! I just got out my school books and planning to work on some of my homework! I actually feel awake so I had better take advantage of it! :-) I thought I would make an entry about my day before doing so!

I didn't go to bed till 2am last night and was planning to wake up a little early so work on my quiz questions for my Old Testament class today. I was too tired and quite unproductive this morning! I try to get to this class early because he post the questions to the next weeks quiz on the projector before and after class. I got there maybe 5 minutes early today so I had to stay after to get the rest of them. I was answering the questions for the quiz we were taking at the end of class during class! I hate it when I do that but have done that the last 3 weeks. I am going to do my best to not do that next week!

My instructor announced today that we will be having a mid-term and it would be more than what the quizzes have been. I am scared! I hope that he gives us some kind of study guide for the mid-term. He also has our term paper due that day of the mid-term!!! Big stress for me! Trying to get my Community Assessment stuff done, study for a mid-term and get a paper done is going to be rough! Through in a few night shifts, you have chaos! My goal for tomorrow is to figure out what minor prophet I am going to write about and get my resources!!! I have two weeks to get this done!!

After class today, I went and grabbed me some lunch and got my allergy shots then headed back to school. I have been trying to get this CD-ROM watched about Public Health Nursing that is for 4 hours of clinical time. I finally got it done!! I didn't know that we had a time limit of 2 hours to check out the CD. I have to write a paragraph or two about each lesson. I just took lots of notes while watching the videos and decided to do that later. It took me about 2 hours to watch all of it with taking all the notes! I am glad to have gotten that done. I am hoping to do my window survey tomorrow in the morning and evening at the 5 clinical sites I have chosen and maybe visit some of the centers to ask questions and maybe set up times that I could possibly shadow someone. I AM GOING TO GET THIS DONE!!! There are moments that I don't feel like I can but today, I have been feeling more positive about my community assessment.

After I got done at the library, I took my 40% coupon to Michael's and got me a CD from Creating Keepsakes - The heritage, Vintage and Retro collection which has fonts and clip art! I am looking forward to loading it on my computer! Then I stopped to get me a frozen coffee drink and then headed home to make dinner and watch Grey's Anatomy!

Tomorrow I am taking two of my cats, Pandora and Felix, for their yearly check-ups. Felix always misbehaves as he hisses, smacks and growls at everybody. They get out the heavy duty gloves to deal with him! Pandora doesn't like it but she doesn't act up like her friend does. I hope everything goes okay tomorrow!

I guess I have rambled enough! I had better get some of this homework done before the moment passes!!!

Tired . . . .

I have worked the last couple of days and have a night off. Yay! I didn't sleep much during the day as I had hoped so I am feeling tired. I was waiting on phone calls from doctors about this cyst on my hand. The NSAID he gave me I believe has helped with the pain but I feel like it has gotten a little bigger and is starting to hurt even with the medicine. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks with a hand specialist to see what he says about this cyst. I was glad that I was able to get in as soon as I did.

Work was good on Monday night. I was able to get my stuff done and leave on time. Tuesday night, I kept having to spend most of my time with one patient when I first got to work and had a couple things to get finished for the day nurse. I was also getting a new patient and was trying to send one home. The patient that was supposed to go home ended up staying because we needed the doctor to call and it was dark when he returned the call. They didn't feel comfortable driving after dark. It just seemed like after I got all these things done, more things kept coming up and I just didn't have time to sit down and chart. I decided to start passing my medications at 0500 to hopefully get done early and chart. It didn't happen as my patients needed some extra TLC! Before I knew it, it was ready to give report. I was glad to finally get to sit down and chart.

School is keeping me too busy. I am hoping after class tomorrow to get this CD-ROM completed that is for 4 clinical hours for my Community Health class. I am hoping to start on this window survey tomorrow for my community assessment and then figure out what questions I need to ask the different areas I have chosen so I can get started getting my binder together. Tonight, I need to work on answering questions for my quiz tomorrow in Old Testament. I never do very good on getting things done when I am tired! The last few weeks I have been answering them in class while he lectures and still have time to study them. I would prefer to have them done before class.

I think I might chill downstairs and try to get ready for my class tomorrow and hopefully getting a few more hours of sleep before class. That would be nice! I also need to do some laundry. Yuck!

C-street fun

I have been enjoying the loft walk this afternoon. I was wondering if I was going to make it as I have been just wanting to nap today! When I decide to lay down, all the cats curl up next to me. They love their mommy! :-) I finally got my but in gear and realized that I hadn't had my energy drink for the day. That is what I needed!

I love how people decorate their lofts. I need someone to come help me decorate my house. My walls are still bare and just haven't done much. I hope when I get more time, that I can do some decorating! I think that will be after I graduate! :-) I have also gotten a small workout from walking all the stairs!

I am at a new hang out today. I am at a coffee shop called Big Momma's. I had started out here, had a smoothie and then left to go to the Mudhouse. The Mudhouse was packed!!! There weren't any empty tables so I decided to come back to Big Momma's and hang out here instead. It is quiet and peaceful here.

I still have quite a bit to do with my to do list. I never finished all of my goals from last weekend either. As long as I get my Community Health journal and the online exam done as they are due at noon on Monday. I am guessing the yard work is not going to get done either! Maybe on Wednesday. I just don't want my grass to get super tall as it is harder to mow like that.

I am starting to feel tired again! I need to snap out of it and get this online exam done!

Peaceful morning . . . .

I have been just enjoying the morning, listening to music and the cats have been hanging out with me. I love mornings that I can wake up and just get ready at my own pace. Loving the fact that I have no appointments, just studying to do today. I do need to buy me a ticket to the C-street loft walk that is tomorrow! I will have to remember to bring my camera to takes pictures of this historic neighborhood. I wish I could take pictures of the lofts and the awesome decor that these people have. Rules . . .

Okay, I need to write up some goals. Some of them will be the same from last weekend as I didn't got them all accomplished.

School:

  1. Write up questions to start interviewing the sites I have chosen. I believe I have a better understanding on what I am doing after having class last week. At least I hope!!

  2. Start working on getting information typed up that I have gathered so far for my data collection part of my assessment.

  3. Get the journal entries completed that is due next Monday. DONE!

  4. Finish studying for online exam in Community Health that is due Monday. DONE!

  5. See what research I can find on the internet for my Community Assessment.

  6. Read the next chapters for Old Testament and answer questions for Quiz 5.

  7. Decide which prophet to write my research paper on and get started on it!!!!

Home:

  1. Go to Lowe's to find a better mask to wear while mowing the yard.

  2. Mow the yard.

  3. Lopper the weeds around the fence.

  4. Clean around the house.

  5. Continue on working on bonus room and organizing scrap stuff.

Fun:

  1. Get tickets today for loft walk. DONE!

  2. Hang out at the Mudhouse and get some studying done, hopefully. DONE!

  3. Work on photos for challenge on TSC. DONE!

  4. Scrapbook?? Not sure I will have time for that but it is always a good thought!

  5. Order Design Premium! Ponder some more about upgrading my Microsoft software.

  6. Hang out at Barnes & Noble and/or Borders. DONE!
  7. Search the internet for beads! Esp. big crystal stars!

Okay, I think that I need to get in the shower so I can get started on this list. :-)

Upgrade or not

I still have Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook 2003 on my computer. I was playing around with the new version at school the other day and it has a feature that would help me put my papers in APA format. Then I was also wanting to work on some homework at the computer lab and save it to my jump drive and realized before doing so that I wouldn't be able to bring it up on my computer with the old version. That has started me wondering if I should upgrade.

I go to Best Buy today and talked to someone about the upgrade. The new student/teacher edition doesn't come with Outlook and it included OneNote. I have used onenote before but when my free trial expired I didn't want to spend the $60 to get it. I was told that I would have to uninstall my previous edition and load the new edition. In this process, I would loose Outlook. I used to use Outlook a lot more than I do now so I guess loosing it wouldn't be too bad. I still want to have the option to use it if I wanted. I ended up leaving to ponder on this a little more before making the purchase.

I am finally ready to make a purchase Design Premium which includes Photoshop CS3. I still have lots to learn with PSE but want be able to learn all the neat stuff you can do on photoshop that PSE doesn't let you do. I need to get this before graduating as I can get it at quite a discount. I am hoping to get my documents emailed to prove I am a student and then order some software that I can enjoy!

I came home and have started cleaning my bonus room. I would like to get things a little more organized up here but haven't had enough time to do so. I still don't have that much time though! I am starting to feel a little tired. I am hoping to write up some goals for myself again for the weekend. That will have to happen in the morning!!

Things that make you go hmmmm . . . . .

About 3 weeks ago, I had this little bump show up on my left pinkie finger, on the back near a joint. I at first wondered about it but didn't get to concerned. It has gotten bigger and started causing me constant, aching pain. It sometimes goes down into the palm of my hand. It had also gotten bigger. I finally called and made an appointment with my doctor earlier this week.

My doctor was booked so they got me in with his PA. He looked at it, press around on it and decided I needed some x-rays of my hand to make sure it was a ganglion cyst and not a bone spur. It turned out to be a ganglion cyst and he gave me a hand out on what a ganglion cyst is. He prescribed Mobic, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), to hopefully help with the pain and to see if it makes it decrease in size. He did tell me that this usually doesn't work but wanted to try just in case it did. If it isn't better in a week, he is going to refer me to a hand specialist. There is not telling how long that will take!

I went to the pharmacy to get my prescrition filled and they always give you a handout on the medication. I saw that the serious side effects were heart attack, stroke, and serious stomach problems and this medicine should only be taken for a short time. He only gave me 15 days worth so I am on it for a short time. What makes me wonder is that Vioxx was taken off of the market for having side effects of heart attack and stroke so makes me wonder how this medicine is still on the market. Maybe the chances were higher with Vioxx? Hmmm . . . . .

All the literature and websites I have read about ganglion cyst say they are unsure what causes them. That even if you have them removed, they may come back. I have been on this medicine for three days which it has decreased the pain, it still is the same size! We will have to see what happens. Maybe I injured my finger with typing to much for school! He He!!! Which reminds me that I need to type up my quiz for next week in Old Testament!

Crazy allergies!!!!

Right now is the worst season for me for my allergies. Last night I started with the sneezing, stuffy, runny nose and watery eyes. I woke up this morning hoping to feel better but was about the same. I had to go to school for 8 hours feeling all icky. Bummer!!! I somehow survived! :-)

I start my day with my Old Testament class. This instructor has been getting done with his lecture early and have been letting us out about an hour early. Today he started the class with that he was told that he wasn't supposed to let us out that early. We weren't really taking to breaks before so know we get 3, 10 minute breaks and we got out about 30 minutes later. I am unsure what the problem was as I enjoyed being able to get out a little early. Esp. if I worked that night!

Then I had Community Health and I got signed up for more clinical opportunities. I told my instructor that I was afraid of not getting enough hours but she told me I was doing fine as I was signing up for a lot of the opportunities being offered. I need to get this community assessment put together and get more info to do so. I am still a little confused on some of the data collection and she tried to help me with that tonight. I am sure I will be emailing her with questions again!

I can't breathe through my nose at all! I really hate allergy season - which is all the time for me but it has been worse this fall. Ragweed is my biggest allergy and there must be lots of it out this year! I think I need to get some rest so I can wake up and tackle some school projects. I need to make me more goals!! I still haven't finished all the goals that I made over the weekend . . .

A little chilly . . . .

I didn't realize how chilly it was yesterday till I arrived at Cider days. I ended up meeting someone that I used to see workout with my old personal trainer. He was working a booth and he still works out with my old personal trainer. It was nice to catch up with him. I also ran into my sisters boyfriends brother. He has a ton of brothers but this one lives locally so I kinda know him.

I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I would. I fell in love with this necklace at one of the booth's that had a big crystal star. It was beautiful! It was too short for my neck but she said she could make it longer but then I wasn't sure where I would actually wear it! Soo, I noticed another necklace that had a bicycle charm on it. I ended up getting it! It was a little longer but still needed to be longer so she is sending me an extender. I can't wait to get the extender so I can wear my new necklace! I will have to look around the internet to see if I can find me a crystal star like that one!

My next booth ended up being the Red Velvet Art booth that Elsie and her sister were at. She had some cute stuff! I ended up getting a journal that Rachel had made that had birds on it. Too cute!!! She had prints from her etsy store there also which I already had one and had ordered one. She hadn't gotten the print mailed out that I had ordered so she gave me the one that I had ordered. I need to get me a frame now! :-)

It had started to rain so I ended up looking at the next booths very quickly. Plus I had run out of money! Soo, I got back to my car and called my sister as we were to be heading out to my company picnic.

By the time we got to the picnic, it had stopped raining but it was kind cold! We enjoyed lunch and then played some games. Shilo won a sack race and she gave me the flowers. I am going to put that in my front planter outside. I ended up winning a 2L bottle of Coke as I had a picture of my cat(s) on my cell phone. I showed them a picture of Chloe. I ended up giving the Coke to my sister as I don't like regular pop. It was a fun time!

I got home and was going to do some school work and watch movies but I fell asleep instead! I have lots to do today plus I am attending a family reunion today! I have gotta work on my goals I set yesterday!

Fun weekend

I am looking forward to Cider days this weekend and the company I work for is having a picnic. The company I work for has thousands of employees! Soo, it is always a huge and fun event. My nieces love it as they have fun kids stuff there. It is all free! It's great!

I love looking at the art at Cider days and Elsie Flannigan and her sister are going to have a booth this year. I have to check it out! I am wondering what else I can find there today! I ended up missing it last year for some reason. I have gotten myself on a *normal* sleep schedule. I ended up going to bed about 2200 and woke up at 0700 this morning! After some breakfast and my energy drink, I will be good to go!!!

Then on Sunday we have an annual family reunion at a local park. I always enjoy the family reunion which is family from my Mom's side. This is actually my weekend to work and had to request off so I could go. I will have to bring my camera! I will have to work on a scrapbook of the family reunion and write up my family tree - with my Mom's help!

I have been stressed as my teacher hasn't responded to my email yet. She sent out a generic type email to the whole class a couple of hours after I had sent my email. That makes me think that she had read it. I hope that she does get back with me today or I might have to wait till Monday also. *Sigh*

With the new schedule that came out at work, I am a couple of days I really need off. I will be at the school all day and then have to work all night. I need to take advantage of as much clinical stuff as I can! It would be soo much easier if I would be able to be assigned one area, do my paper on that instead of all these one hour here, two hour there stuff. It takes a long time to get up to 45 hours when you are doing it that way. Again, I hate school! It is a stress that I could do without.

My goals this weekend for school:
  1. Do as much research on the internet about the sites I have chosen for my community assessment and to get a binder for all my information.
  2. Write up questions to start interviewing the sites I have chosen.
  3. Read and journal on my reading that is due for Community Health.
  4. Read the chapters for the quiz for Old Testament.
  5. Answer the questions that was given in class for the quiz in Old Testament.
  6. Decide which prophet to write my research paper on and get started on it!!!!

I believe that is all I need to get accomplished this weekend along with all my fun activities!

The pic I included today is a picture of the snake. You can see my loopers in the background connected to the snake. I was afraid to take them off as I didn't want the snake slithering away . . . I hate snakes!!!!!

Brave day!

This morning around 0900, I decided to finish mowing my yard since I didn't get to that last night. It was nice a cool outside so the weather was good! I got started and my lawnmower kept dying because the grass was kinda tall in my backyard. At one point when I was restarting my lawnmower, the handle to start my lawnmower came loose from its holding place and I couldn't get it to move. I go inside and outside a few times and noticed snake skin on my back porch. I always thought I was safe up there as I was up off the ground. I had went inside again to get my cordless phone to call my dad to see if he could help me with my lawnmower over the phone. As I walk back outside, I saw a snake all curled up in my bamboo lamp that was leaning against the railing near my back door!!!!!

My heart was pounding!!! The only door I had unlocked was near the snake. I kept looking around to find something to kill the snake with but I had moved everything into my garage. That meant I had to walk by the snake again to go inside to get my loopers! Before doing that, I called my parents and talked to my Dad. He wasn't able to help me over the phone with my lawnmower problem but said he could be over within an hour. So in the mean time, I got brave enough to go inside and get my loopers. I was able to get ahold of the snake just right and looper it! It was a scary moment but a very brave one!!!! I have been a little jumpy since seeing the snake today! I hope that I don't see anymore . . . . I will post pics later!

My Dad made it over and we somehow got my lawnmower running again. I finished mowing my lawn and my Dad worked on my wood pile that had fallen over. My yard looks so much better! I actually need to mow my front lawn again since it has been almost a week. The rain this year hasn't helped me with keeping up with the mowing.

I had emailed my instructor for my Community Health class asking some questions on my community assessment. I haven't heard back from her. :-( This class has got me on edge trying to complete the clinical hours. :-/ Only 8 more weeks left of this class!

I am at the Mudhouse to get some studying done. I went and bought a new wireless mouse today. This one keeps the usb receiver in the base of the mouse so I hopefully won't accidently bend this one!

Stressful moments to come . . .

This morning, I was content after having 17 hours of sleep. I woke up and felt better and ready to tackle my class at noon. While I was getting ready for class, I was excited as my books that according to ups.com was to be delivered on Friday came today! I didn't have time to look at the books as I need to get ready for class. I kept thinking about them when I was sitting in class!

The books I got was: The Prima Game Guide to Sims 2 Bon Voyage expansion pack! I am excited to learn some tricks to this new addition to my game. The other book was, "We dare you: scrapbook challenges about real life". I am looking forward to when I have some time tonight to look through my new books.

After class today, I got my allergy shots and then went to Borders for some frozen coffee. Then I came home to do some things I need to do around the house and to do some yard work. I have gotten as far has checking the email, reading my MB and decided to see if the new schedule was out at work. Then I got mad at the schedule.

I am quite upset with how the schedule is because they have taken me off my every other weekend and have me working more during the week. I never thought they would do this so never said that I needed to work my weekends because of school. So now that the schedule is published, they have me working every other day and I don't have a full day - that I will be awake - to work on my clinical hours for my community assessment. It seems like that every clinical that my instructor has posted so far, I am working. I have got to come up with something to get these clinical hours in so I can complete this class. So tonight I was going to review the requirements for this assignment and start working on it tomorrow. It is due Oct. 18 and I have 4 days that I will me awake during the day till this assignment is due. This doesn't give me much time to get this done. I hate school!!!!!!! I also hate having to work full-time nights while going to school.

This day has ended on a sour note. I just hope that I can get something figured out tonight and it won't be as bad as it seems at the moment.

Productive day

I woke up around 10 a.m. this morning and felt awake! This is the second day of feeling awake! It must be my energy drinks! I had run out and finally ordered some more and have had one yesterday and one today! All those vitamins must be doing me some good!

I decided to make me my eggbeater pizza on pita bread. A good healthy start to the day! As soon as I got done with breakfast, I decided to go ahead and take my online exam in community health. Felix had to lay all over my book and I fought with him the entire time I was taking the test but I got it done! I only missed 4 questions out of 50. Not bad! This teacher doesn't seem to be trying to trick us. The last two classes I have had, the teachers were wording things in a tricky way. I feel better about her exams after taking the first one.

Other things I need to get accomplished today is an internet scavenger hunt for my community health class. I had kinda forgotten about this and it is due Monday at noon. Yikes! It doesn't look hard. I just hope it goes smoothly! I also need to work on my next quiz in Old Testament. He has made out third quiz matching and I have found this a little challenging the way he is wording things. I hope to at least get a big dent put into this and finish it up on Wednesday night as the quiz is on Thursday! If I can get this done, I am hoping to do a little scrapbooking! I am not sure I will get to that before falling asleep though!

The weather has been better today with no rain. I am hoping to get my yard mowed today too. I am tired of my jungle of a yard. I am sure the neighbors are beginning to wonder too! I also need to do some cleaning, esp. the kitchen!

Yesterday when I got to the Mudhouse and was setting my laptop up I wasn't able to get my wireless mouse usb transmitter to fit in a usb port. I looked at it and noticed that it has gotten bent! I always put it in the front pocket of my bag so it must have gotten banged on something! With all my books, I can see how it had gotten bent. Soooo, I might need to get a new wireless mouse or see if I can just get a new transmitter. I am not fond of the mouse pad that is on my laptop. It is too sensitive. I will be using it till I can figure out what to do.

I am off on a internet scavenger hunt!

Rainy, calm weekend

It has been raining since Wednesday! So crazy! This evening, it has finally cleared off. I really hope it doesn't rain anymore this weekend so I can get some yard work done! My yard is starting to look like a jungle . . . .

I have been loving the new EP for the Sims 2 Bon Voyage. I love to get the prima guide that goes with each EP but for some reason, no one has it in stock. After making a few phone calls and not finding it, I finally just ordered it online. I even got it cheaper than I could have in the store so it is all good! I can't wait to get it to find out some of the stuff I might have not realized yet.

I have been studying this afternoon at the Mudhouse. I have accomplished to get my week 3 journal entry done! I tend to wait till the last minute to get these done and I am actually up-to-date! :-) I have a lot of reading to do and I have an online exam to take. I had forgotten about an assignment that is due on Monday. Phew! I have too much to do and would like to have a weekend that I don't have to study this much. I am glad that I feel awake and not too sleepy. I might actually get something accomplished this weekend.

Swimming cats?

I was doing a little blog searching tonight and found this! A lady that teaches her cats to swim! I don't think my cats would go for it. Click here for a picture of a cat swimming!

Enjoy!

Finally, hopefully, something good!

I had a wild and crazy weekend at work. I thought things were supposed to get slower over the holiday. At least it didn't happen this holiday!

I was attempting to finish some last minute charting when my GI doctor sat down across from me. He asked me how I was doing and I just mentioned to him that my doctor was sending me back to his office again. I told him that I wasn't able to get in till Oct. 30th and he told me that he would try to get me in sooner than that! I am not sure if he will be able to do anything for me but if he is, I hope that he is able to get me in sooner!

I need to get some sleep after this wild and crazy weekend.

Rocker Chic!

I did this on meez.com last night. Just having a little fun!

I have lots of studying to do today! Gotta go!

On the mend, hopefully

I actually slept between 7-8 hours last night! It was great even though I felt tired today. I am sure that is because my body is confused from working nights for soo long. I was able to wake up early today and work on some things for school before going to school. I love it when things happen in a nice way!

I had my Old Testament class today. I found it a little boring as the reading we did, he just went back over it today. I am sure that will be of a benefit though as it will help things stay in my memory better! I think I missed one question on the quiz today because he worded something different than the book did. I need to start getting ready for my quiz for next week!

I need to really start researching for my Community Health class. I emailed my instructor today and need to answer her email. I need to start looking at things in-depth and email her my questions. I have a discussion board due next week that I need to get started on. Our first test is going to be posted next Tuesday so I need to really get into the reading! There is so much to read!! She doesn't give out study guides or power points to go along with the reading. I am scared of this test!

Today I woke up feeling feverish and took my temp. and it was 99.2. I still haven't gotten completely better from being sick a couple of weeks ago. Soo, I went to see if I could get my allergy shots today and they took my temp. in the office and it was 99.1. I got told that I couldn't get my allergy shots and I said I would try to contact my primary care phsyician and get an appointment for tomorrow. The nurse asked if my allergy doctor was able to see me that day if I wouldn't mind seeing him. Pretty soon she called my name! I was able to see him and he prescribed me an antibiotic. I just hope it does the trick! I don't have time to feel all icky!

I went to the bookstore at school today to ask about the planners they used to give out in the Fall. I was told that they stopped giving those out since you can get on the internet and look up all the information that was in them. Rats! I was hoping the lady just forgot to give me mine last week. They did sell planners and they had one that had a calendar plus room to write stuff in. I went ahead and bought that one since it had alot of what I was looking for! I will hopefully be able to get organized now!

I came to the Mudhouse to study. I had a sandwich and now it is time to get busy!

It's blogging time!!

This morning I had something I have been wanting to blog but I was too tired after work to do any blogging. While I was sleeping today, in my dreams I was trying to find a computer with internet access so I can blog! I makes me chuckle that I was dreaming this today!

This morning I finally got with my primary care physician regarding my heartburn problems. I should have done this in June when I learned that the interventions that my doctor suggested didn't work. I have lost hope in ever having complete relief from my heartburn again unless my insurance changes for the better. I was hoping that he would write this letter to my insurance to hopefully get my medicine that works approved. I didn't have that luck. Instead he made me an appointment with my GI doctor. The soonest appointment that I could get was Oct. 30! I have to wait two more months! I see my GI doctor at work occasionally and one evening he came in and wasn't rushed to get to the office and talked to me. When I told him my heartburn issues and what my primary doctor had done he told me that really the only thing left to do was to write a letter. I told the med assistant that I talked to this but it didn't do me any good soooo I have to wait for two months and in 2 1/2 months is when the benefits fair is at work. I am really hoping for a better Rx plan. This whole situation just sucks.

I have some studying to do tonight and I hope that I can sleep tonight since I have to be in class at noon tomorrow! I am going to work tomorrow afternoon on figuring out my Community Health assessment assignment.

Camera news!

I decided to go to Best Buy today to see about the new Canon 40D and noticed that they don't even have the Canon 30D anymore! Canon has already discontinued the 30D before the release of the 40D! I have been emailed a date of September 20, 2007 for the release of the 40D which Best Buy is supposed to get it shipped to them on September 2, 2007! I was told that they tend to get the cameras before the official release date. :-) I have more of a reason to pay off my desktop so I can get a new camera!

The employee I was talking to told me she was taking photography classes as continuing education. I am going to have to look into that so I can learn more! She is taking business classes and hopes to be able to open her own photography studio someday. She said she has been assisting a photographer in photo shoots. That sounds like fun! I am looking forward to graduating so I can pursue fun things!

I am currently at the Mudhouse trying to study. I have been trying to find an academic refill for my day planner but I have been unsuccessful. The office supply stores in my area only have 2008 calendars now. One guy got on the internet and did a search for academic day planner refills but we couldn't find any! Soooo, I am out of luck. My Dad has made his own on Microsoft Excel so I am going to have to see how he did it and maybe make my own. I had bought a small academic planner but not really liking it that well. I need more room! I really need a planner so I can get track of all this clinical stuff I need to do for my Community Health class.

I guess I need to get back to trying to study! :-)

Crazy night . . .

Work was nuts last night. I was in charge and we ended up with 7 admits!!! I really hate nights like this and it is getting to be every night! I am getting to enjoy nights that I come into work and we don't have any beds available. At least I won't be spending all the time on the phone talking with admitting.

Being in charge, I still have to take a full load of patients just like everyone else but yet I have to deal with staffing and admitting. I got frustrated with admitting because they called for one patient. No big deal but then in the next 5 minutes they called two more. Then shortly after they called for two at once they called again for a fourth patient! I had to say something at this point but it did me no good! They only care about the bed they are needing for this patient and not concerned on the workload that gets put on use. It is hard to be admitting that many patients and trying to meet all the needs of your other patients. You are running constantly trying to keep everyone happy. I had a patient get mad at me because it took me 10 minutes to get pain medicine to her. I thought with everything going on that was good! :-/

Work keeps getting more and more stressful. Adding all the stress from school along with it hasn't helped. I am in need of a vacation!!! I have two weeks off from work the end of October and the beginning of November. I can't wait! I do have a kinda small break in September but not as big as I would like! I am glad to have a couple days off. I hope to sit down and figure out my classes and get some reading done! I need some sleep first!

First day of school

I got to school early to buy my expensive textbooks! WOW!! 2 books and it was $140!!! At least this time they are hardback. I hate it when I spend that much on softcover books. I had a class this summer but it was mainly online so I didn't get to see the changes that they made till today. The school purchased more computers and upgraded Microsoft. Now we have to sign into each computer with our student id which we didn't have to do before. They even made new classrooms with fancy equipment. Both of my classes are in each of these new classrooms. They are way back in the building and trying to walk to the library on our breaks and back is difficult! I had to ask one of my teachers something and then reprint something in the library and I was late coming back to class!

My first class was Old Testament. I was getting to class about 20 minutes early and sat down near someones stuff not knowing who I was sitting by. It turned out to be a girl I work with! I was happy that I am taking a class with someone I know! She is in the ASN program and I am in the BSN program so we never did talk about our schedules at work not knowing we would end up in a same class. She said she is taking New Testament in the Spring and I will be too! We will have to try to get in the same class! Makes learning better with friends!

My Old Testament class was short and sweet today. He only kept us an hour which helped break up my day better. He went over the syllabus and said a few things and then let us go. I guess next week after all the reading we have to do this week that he will be keeping us the whole time. We have quizzes every time we meet- with today being an exception. He gave us the quiz today to have to fill in when we do our reading and then next week at the end of class we will take the quiz. It doesn't sound like a hard class, just lots of reading!

I had a three hour break from class so I had time to have some lunch and do some errands. I even had time to hang out at Borders for awhile! I had went to an office supply store to get a new insert for my planner to only learn that they just have 2008 calendars for planners. Mine ended in July so I figured that I would be able to get more refills to finish out the year. They stopped selling 2007 calendars in June. I will have to try another supply store. I bought a small academic calendar and don't really like it.

I went back to school for my second class, Community Health. This is the class that I have been stressed about because of this clinical time we have to do. I was hoping after going to class that my stress would go down from it but it didn't help! One good thing is that she accepted my CPR card that I had! I wasn't sure how I would be able to get a CPR class in to be able to do this clinicals. We have to do 45 hours of clinical and I thought we would be at a certain site but we aren't. We are picking and choosing a few different things but it seems like everything is during the day when I am sleeping. I will be missing out on a lot which I was afraid off! That didn't help the stress of having to do clinicals. I just need to sit down and go over all the stuff she gave us and email her. I really like my instructor for this class and she is also my advisor now since my other advisor took a new position. I was able to talk to her today about these correspondence courses and get her signature to be able to start one.

I was hoping when I got home to make a game plan and organize a calendar of what I need to do when but ended up falling asleep! That doesn't surprise me with what little sleep I got the night before. I still feel like sleeping but I need to be able to sleep most of the day since I work Friday night.

I think for the rest of the early morning hours I need to work on cleaning up my little bonus room and my desk. I can't seem to concentrate with clutter! :-) Then I might be able to concentrate on my studies!

Icky Thump

I just love that song by the White Stripes! I fell icky this morning. I think I might have slept about 3-4 hours but then also woke up with a stomache ache. Ohhhhh . . . . . . . I had me a bowl of cereal and hope it calms down!

I need to get to school early so I can get my books for the semester. It is going to be a long day! I am glad to have an hour break between my classes today. I hope my tummy starts feeling better!

Last night I had went to Wal-mart for a little grocery shopping. I have a canvas bag that I bought from craft store that I am going to make into a nurse ninja bag! I have my nurse ninja patch that I got off of etsy.com and I found a saying on the internet that I am going to put on the bag. I had found last night ink jet t-shirt transfers! I am hoping to apply my patch to one side and then too this saying that I found on the other! Hopefully I can do that this weekend!

I need to start getting reading for this crazy day!

Stuff . . . . .

Today is my first day back to school for the Fall semester. I am not looking forward to it at all! I got even more unexcited when I finally got into blackboard to print out the syllabus. My teacher for my Community Health class posted documents that we need to bring to class on the first day. One of the documents I have a feeling I am going to have a problem with which is my CPR card. I have my card but it is for Heartsaver AED and I need a BLS for healthcare provider card the one I don't have! I won't be able to start clinicals without having one. I am not required on my floor to have the BLS CPR card. Which I actually think that is what they only give out now but a year ago they still did it by what floor you worked on and what you would need to know for the type of patients on your floor. I am sure that I will have to somehow take the CPR class a year early than I thought I was going to have to just so I can finish this class. I will get more detail tomorrow but I am sure that is what I will be told.

I am still not back to my normal self. My throat still hurts some and my ear! I am sure this is from my sinuses but it needs to go away!!! Since I slept most of the day I have been unable to go to sleep tonight! That will make for an interesting day at school! I have to be there for 8 hours tomorrow. My nieces start school in the morning also. I will have to find out how there first day of school went if I get out of class a little early!

Nothing exciting has been going on. I have been working about every other day which when you work nights, you don't get to spend time with family and friends. I was really hoping to get with my nieces before school started but my work schedule didn't permit it. :-(

Something I learned today was about a new Canon camera coming out this September! I have been waiting till I get my desktop paid off before getting the Canon 30D. I figured it would be sometime this fall. I got an email today about Canon coming out with the 40D in September of 2007! At the same price of the 30D! WOOHOO!!! I am looking forward to researching what is new in the 40D and see what might be best. I might be able to get the 30D for cheaper too since a newer model is out. *Happy Dance* I am ready to go from nursing to photography! :-)

I should get my stuff together for the morning and try to get some sleep. I know I will end up falling asleep about the time I should be waking up! Hopefully, I will get a few hours at least.

Somewhat better . . .

I have had a rough week with being sick. I have ended up working most of it too! I got to work on Wednesday having a hard time talking and just not feeling good. Two nurses called in so I didn't want to be the third but I get to work and find out that I am the charge nurse on top of being sick! YUCK! I made it through the night okay. I had to be nurse ninja a few times and had to call security three times for backup! It was a wild night! I am not back to normal yet but feeling better.

I start school back up on Thursday and I am not looking forward to it. I have one class that I have to do clinical with. I am unsure how I am going to fit this in my full-time night schedule plus school. I stopped reading the sylabus for class as it was scaring me all the stuff I am going to have to do! I am sure that it isn't as bad as it seems so I will just wait till she goes over everything the first day of class. My other classes, I have no idea what to expect! They haven't been posted on Blackboard.

I haven't been able to get things organized as I had hoped. Being sick and not feeling like doing anything hasn't helped! I need to have more than just one day off from work also so I can accomplish things. That will be in almost two weeks! Totally sucks!

Here is something fun that I just happened to run across - a webcam of the eiffel tower!

Sickly girl

My little sore throat turned into more than allergies! I still have a sore throat, stuffy and runny nose - at the same time, coughing, and no voice! I know this has started as my allergies but had to take a wrong turn! I still had my nieces but I wasn't feeling good at all! We did have fun Sunday night at least when I was still feeling somewhat okay. Monday I woke up with everything hurting and a headache! I must have looked beat when I got up as my youngest niece asked if I was okay when I walked down the hallway!

Sunday night, we went to the Mudhouse and Jordan Valley Park. We normally go to Jordan Valley Park more often in the summer but this was the first time this summer! I took lots of pictures and even played in the water in my clothes and got soaked! I realized that we forgot to bring towels! My nieces were able to air dry as they had there swimsuits on but I was just soaked! I was glad that I had a small blanket in my trunk that I used on my seat to keep it dry. We stayed up late doing fun little things.

We really didn't get to do that much on Monday since I wasn't feeling good. I had to take Shilo to her guitar lessons and afterwards we went to Target. I wanted this slushie maker that they had in an ad the week before. It was no where to be found but I did find one that did shaved ice for slushies and snow cones! Yum! I made a Diet A&W Rootbeer slushie. Today I actually bought the syrup and made a sour cherry slushie! I need to try out the snow cone setting next!

I have been going back and forth from playing the Sims2 tonight, surfing the net and cleaning my house. I really hope to have my house somewhat organized before school starts and that is in 7 days! Out of the seven days, I have three days off from work before school starts and of course they are sleeping days. I hate it when I work every other day esp. with working the night shift!

Long weekend!

I am excited about my extended weekend. I am only getting this because I have to go to an inservice at work on Tuesday. I am really excited for my nieces to spend the night Sunday! I have been thinking of things we can do together.

I woke up today with a sore throat and have felt kinda icky all day. My ears feel clogged up from the sinus pressure. I really hope that I wake up feeling better instead of worse! I have been trying all summer to find a time that my nieces can spend the night and it looks like this will be my last chance before school starts.

I have been enjoying my bonus room more since I have had the window a/c. I can play my Sims, scrapbook, surf the net in comfort! It is great! I went last night to Hobby Lobby and bought me an acrylic paint set and some brushes. I haven't really created anything yet, just playing around with a canvas mixing colors. I also got some additives to make my paint have a metallic look! So fun! My nieces might have some good ideas for me!

I am going to see what I can create!

Finally . . .

I have 4 new tires on my car! I got of from work this morning and went to Sam's till they opened at 10 a.m. I couldn't believe how many people were waiting outside of the store! I was like some big sale but there wasn't a sale. I was the first one in line for the tire department and they only had three tires left that would fit my car! Since I had gotten one the other day, that was perfect! I am glad that I have new tires and hopefully I won't experience that again anytime soon!

Saturady night I went to Borders to have more of that frozen coffee drink I have fallen in love with and there was an author signing her book. I went straight to the magazines and then the cafe but then on the way out, I noticed that she had a book about her cat! I was in! I love stories about kitty cats and she was telling me about it and I had to read it! She signed a copy for me and then I had something to read while I was getting my tires changed today. The name of the book is "According to Punkin". Too cute!

I have been trying to relax but have been a little tired since I only got about 4 hours of sleep today. I did accomplish grocery shopping and I got the kitchen clean. I am hoping to also work on my rolodex cards. I feel a nap coming on!
